Carambolim Lake: It is an artificial freshwater lake located in Carambolim, Tiswadi, North Goa & has been declared a bird sanctuary due to its avian population. It is a famous spot of bird watching in Goa & receives local as well as migratory birds.

Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary: It is an important bird sanctuary located in Chorao Island near Panjim, North Goa. It is the only bird sanctuary in Goa & is home to a variety of local & migratory birds. This sanctuary is one of the hot tourist destinations in Goa.

Day 2: BIRDING IN MHADEI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

After breakfast, head to Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary for bird watching. This sanctuary has been declared an International Bird Area because of the presence of globally threatened bird species.

Some of the bird species in this sanctuary which you can spot are Nilgiri Wood-Pigeon, Grey-headed Bulbul, Malabar Grey Hornbill, Malabar Parakeet, Rufous Babbler, White-bellied Blue Flycatcher, Crimson-backed Sunbird etc.
Return back to hotel.

Day 3: BIRDING IN BONDLA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY & CARAMBOLIM LAKE

After breakfast, head to Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary for bird watching. This sanctuary has many paths for the bird watchers to watch the birds.

Some of the bird species in this sanctuary which you can spot are Brown Fish Owl, Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher, Booted Eagle, Black-crested Bulbul, Yellow browed Bulbul, Black-naped Monarch, Bar-winged Flycatcher Shrike, Blue-capped Rock Thrush etc.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Carambolim Lake that is a large expanse of water where you will see waders & ducks in thousands.

Some of the species which can you can spot are Lesser Whistling Teal, Cattle Egret, Pond Heron, Purple Moorhen, Marsh Harrier, Purple Heron, Purple Swamphen, Ashy Woodswallow, Asian Openbill etc.

Day 4: BIRDING IN SALIM ALI BIRD SANCTUARY

After breakfast, head to Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary for bird watching. This sanctuary is surrounded by mangroves & is inhabited by several migratory species of birds.

Some of the bird species in this sanctuary which you can spot are Kingfishers, Drongos, Herons, Kites, Myna, Curlews, Sandpiper, Redshank, Hoopoe etc.
Return back to hotel.
The rest of the day is at leisure for shopping & doing other activities.

Tips & Notes

At Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, casual & comfortable clothing, preferably full length pants and shoes are recommended. Wear Shoes, Cap/Hat. A moderate amount of walking is involved.
Step into the fields around Carambolim Lake to look for other birds. Do not forget to ask the field owners before you step in.
At Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, 4 to 5 hours are required to explore properly. It is advisable to visit the sanctuary in the morning. Also, it is advisable to carry your own food & plenty of water while visiting this sanctuary.
Carry a pair of good binoculars
Carrying a Tripod is a must for bird photography.
Stay on the trails & with the guide.
Smoking is prohibited in the forest area.
Please make sure that you don’t throw any litter in the sanctuary area.
