Goa’s Portuguese Heritage

Goa was a Portuguese colony since the 1500s, when they first arrived on Indian soil. They left only in the year 1961, leaving behind a legacy of their culture, food, traditions and a heavy influence in Goa. A remarkable Portuguese feature seen all over Goa is the European styled architecture – structures, buildings, churches! The Portuguese facade is evident and much appreciated. Here are some heritage structures and churches that marvel the Portuguese influence in the region.
